The TIES 1991 definition of ecotourism.

Ecotourism is responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well being of local people was the conceptual base for temple tourism plan of Bahucharaji.

Principles of ecotourism adapted for Bahucharaji were:

  • (a) Minimize negative impacts on nature and culture;
  • (b) Stress the importance of responsible business, with local authorities and people;
  • (c) Emphasize the need for regional tourism zoning and for visitor management plans;
  • (d) Strive to maximize economic benefit for the local business and communities, particularly people living in and adjacent to plan areas.

In phase 1 of the proposed tourism master plan, development of arrival plaza, outside Bahucharaji temple complex, has been taken up for execution.
